Senior Day

Did You Know?

The first Monday of the month is Senior Day at the Food Shelf. Those 55 and older may come from 10:30am – 12:30pm to choose foods that will help supplement their grocery needs.

Sadly, seniors are becoming a fast growing population of chronically hungry people in our service area and are often reluctant to reach out for help. Please share the word if you know someone who could use our help!

Give Kids a Smile – Minnesota

Please contact us before donating any non-food items. We pride ourselves on being good stewards using the funds that the Buffalo community donates to help with our mission. Unfortunately, we have had people dropping off many non-food items at the food shelf that we are not able to give away, resulting in us having to pay for extra trash pickup. Along with having to pay for the extra pickups, we have had to pay extra to have things such as mattresses and couches picked up by our garbage hauler. In 2018, we paid over $150 in additional charges. One of the ways we try to save money is by having our garbage service pick up every other week instead of every week. To do this, we are very conservative with what we throw away. We try to recycle as much as possible. We also compost as much as we can. So please – if you have something that you think we might need or something that you think we could pass on to someone please contact us first!
