Governor Walz has issued an executive order mandating the use of face masks in indoor public buildings in Minnesota effective July 25th.
This means that all volunteers and clients MUST wear a face mask when entering the food shelf. If you do not have one, one will be provided for you.
Children 5 years of age and younger – NOTE due to the pandemic, children are not allowed in the food shelf at this time.
Individuals with a medical condition or a disability that makes it unreasonable for them to wear a face covering.
FREE meals are currently being provided by BHM Nutrition Services for children ages 18 and under and individuals 19 and over with state-defined mental or physical disabilities who participate in school programs. Children will receive a bag lunch for that day and breakfast for the following day. This program will be solely for the pick up of meals and meals will not be consumed on-site. We encourage families to continue to be proactive in reducing the risk of COVID-19 by not congregating at the school site once meals have been distributed.
Curbside meal pick-up will be available during this time, Monday through Friday from 11 am -1 pm at the front doors of the following locations (unless otherwise noted):
Buffalo Community Middle School
Montrose Elementary School of Innovation
Parkside Elementary (northwest corner of the school–look for signs)
Meal delivery is available by request. To request meal delivery or if you have questions about the current free meals program contact Allison Barkley at [email protected]
BUFFALO FOOD SHELF
The Buffalo Food Shelf is giving away FREE bags of kid-friendly food items that children can make for themselves at home. Each child in a family will receive about 20 pounds of kid-friendly food (e.g. a pack of hot dogs, buns, fresh fruits, can of fruit, can of corn, pasta and spaghetti sauce, tuna, bread, milk, fruit juices, granola bars, and some candy treats). The food should last them at least a week, Distribution will be at the food shelf during regular hours: Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8 pm and Friday from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm. Parents or guardians should pick up for their families to limit their child’s public exposure. The food shelf suggests families come once every 2 weeks for the kid-friendly bags.
