Annually the Buffalo Food Shelf honors one of our many great volunteers with the Nancy Campbell Community Service Award. The award is named for Campbell, who led the food shelf in its development in its early years. Today the food shelf serves over 700 families annually, with around 400,000 pounds of food. Nancy also served the Buffalo community in numerous roles. In normal times, the award is presented at our annual volunteer appreciation picnic. The pandemic of COVID 19 prevented that from being safely doable. The picnic was replaced by gift cards to ice cream shops in Buffalo.
This year we honor Warren Myhre. Warren has been a constant presence for the last eight years on the Friday morning crew, doing food rescue around the city and stocking the shelves. Warren also serves in leadership roles at his church, Zion Lutheran. He is also a volunteer at Fare For All, and Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday Food Basket giveaways. Thank you and congratulations Warren!
