Ready to Volunteer?

One of the biggest needs for the food shelf is having enough volunteers to help during distribution hours. When you decide to donate your time to the Buffalo Food Shelf, you are helping us towards our goal of feeding every family in need within our community. 

Available Positions

 Are you a student or organization looking for volunteer hours? Or maybe a concerned community-member looking for a way to help?

Below are some of the ways for you to volunteer at the food shelf. Volunteers are needed during our distribution hours of Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 and Friday mornings from 10:30 to 12:30 as well as the first Monday morning of the month from 10:30 to 12:30. Volunteers should arrive 30 minutes before we open for distribution. If you are interested in helping out in either of these positions, please contact us to get started. Shopper


Front Desk

You will be assisting clients in shopping for the food items that they need.

You will be collecting necessary information from the clients and completing required documentation. Additional training is needed for this role. Please do not sign up for front desk volunteer position unless you have received the training.

Volunteer FAQ

Court Mandated Community Service Policy

All court mandated community service must be scheduled in advance. We do not accept individuals with charges that involve an act of violence.

Please request a minimum of 7 days before wanting to volunteer. We do not accept walk-ins for court mandated service.

We may request additional information including the specific offense committed and the case number of the offense. 

Upon completion of hours, please allow 72 hours for verification and completion letters.
